People tend to look at design as just a visual aesthetic, like branding. But many forget it's really the connective tissue between the user and the features that make up your application or website.
So how much is design really worth?
A persistent underestimation and undervaluation of good UX and UI is why so many websites and apps look and feel like a dumpster fire. And to make things worse, the same people guilty of doing this, could be the ones making decisions about your funding.
If you need to demonstrate the value of your design efforts, one of the most effective methods is to calculate its return on investment (ROI).
There are four steps to this:
π Choosing a KPI.
π Connecting your KPI to a design feature.
π Making your business case.
π Using your newly created metric for future analyses.
Another way would be to start with a UX metric and relate them to a KPI. For instance, a high frequency of return eventually resulting in more repeat purchases.
In short, some more respect for UI and UX is hugely important for people to get the right resources, which will ultimately increase the UX maturity of your company.
